چکیده

Recently, aspect-oriented approaches have resulted in a tremendous impact on the processing of broadly scoped properties during the development of software systems. However, the weaving mechanism of these crosscutting concerns cannot be easily represented with the extant uniÞed modeling language (UML) notation at the early stage of software development life cycle. As an attempt toward the investigation of how the crosscutting behavior takes place, we proposed, in this work, an aspect-enhanced goal-driven approach to modeling the aspectual behavior in UML state transition diagrams and sequence diagrams with the proposed interaction operators based on the aspectual weaving semantics. By introducing the proposed interaction operations in the UML combined fragment, UML sequence diagrams can be further enhanced to support the modeling of the interactions between aspectual and base behavior in the analysis and design stage of software development. To further exemplify our points, the meeting scheduler system is chosen as a vehicle to illustrate the proposed approach. C © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

A Model-Based Approach to Test Generation for Aspect-Oriented Programs

This paper presents an approach to generating tests for adequately exercising interaction between aspects and classes based on aspect-oriented UML models. In this approach, an aspect-oriented model consists of class diagrams, aspect diagrams, and sequence diagrams. Since methods of classes and advices of aspects are both specified by sequence diagrams, the advices on a given method can be weave...

JPI UML Software Modeling Aspect-Oriented Modeling for Modular Software

Aspect-Oriented Programming AOP extends object-oriented programming OOP with aspects to modularize crosscutting behavior on classes by means of aspects to advise base code in the occurrence of join points according to pointcut rules definition. However, join points introduce dependencies between aspects and base code, a great issue to achieve an effective independent development of software mod...

Using Concrete Syntax in Graph-based Model Transformations

The emergence of large and complex software systems increases the interest in model-driven engineering, as a way to lower the cost of development and maintenance of software. Models allow us to hide irrelevant details, provide different model viewpoints, and isolate and modularize models of cross-cutting concerns of a system. The emerging technologies for aspectoriented modeling and weaving pro...

When Aspect-Orientation Meets Software Product Line Engineering

Aspect-oriented software development (AOSD) and software product line engineering (SPLE) are two approaches for software reuse, which promote model-driven development and variability management. While AOSD supports developing crosscutting concerns separately from traditional units and weaving them to different software products, software product line engineering (SPLE) handles the development a...

Testing Aspect-Oriented Programs with UML Design Models

The new constructs in aspect-oriented programming bring new types of programming faults with respect to crosscutting concerns, such as incorrect pointcuts and advice. This paper presents a UML-based approach to testing whether or not an aspect-oriented program conforms to its expected crosscutting behavior. We explore aspect-oriented UML design models to derive tests for exercising interactions...
